The Town of Butternuts is contracted with the following facility, where all dogs that are picked up by the Dog Control Officer will be taken:

All dogs in the Town of Butternuts (and in the State of New York) need to be licensed. This is per NYS Ag & Markets law.
New licenses can be obtained from the Town Clerk. Renewal licenses will be mailed one month prior to expiration date of current license.
In order to license a dog, the owner will need to present a current rabies certificate.
License cost for un-neutered dog license is $15.
License cost for spayed or neutered dog is $7.
To qualify for the lower license cost, owner must present a veterinarian certificate of spay or neuter to the Town Clerk.
A New York Ag & Markets dog license is valid anywhere in the state of NY.
